BRIDGET DOUGLAS (flute)
Bridget Douglas is Associate Principal flute in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and flute tutor at Victo-ria University of Wellington. After completing a BSc at Otago University she began flute studies at Victoria University (BMus, 1993). In 1994, with the assistance of a Creative New Zealand grant, Alex Lindsay Memo-rial Award, PEO International Peace Scholarship, and Fulbright Scholarship, she went to the State University of New York (Stony Brook) to study with the late Samuel Baron (MMus, 1996). She was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for their 1996/1997 season. While in America she won the New York Flute Club Young Artists Competition and the Artists International Award, the later resulting in a Carnegie Hall debut recital. Last year she won fifth prize in the International Flute Competition at Markneukirchen (Germany).
